Academics

St. Juliana School provides a robust and challenging academic curriculum that is designed to promote the growth of the whole person through an education permeated with Gospel values. Core subjects of mathematics, science, religion, language arts, and social studies form the academic and spiritual foundation for our program while additional scholarly enrichment programs such as Technology, Art, Music, and Spanish language complement the core curriculum and give our students the confidence to move on to higher levels of education, and life, with a sense of purpose.

Spirituality

St. Juliana School is a Catholic Christian community with every program, activity, and attitude directed toward one purpose: To empower students to grow as Catholic citizens, aware of their responsibility in a global community. To proclaim the Word of God, we focus on prayer, responsibility, respect, stewardship, and leadership. We encourage our students to live the Word of God in their relationships with each other, which in turn prepares them to lead a Catholic way of life.

Spanish

In primary grades, students have the opportunity to develop vocabulary and basic grammar skills based on contexts related to daily living. Coursework consists of songs, games, stories and worksheets. In upper grades, students will learn more grammar, including articles, pronouns, conjugations, adjectives, adverbs, etc. and, by the end of the curriculum, students will be able to understand and speak on a variety of topics. Students will be able to read short stories appropriate to their grade and language level and will gain knowledge of the culturally diverse Spanish speaking world giving them insight into the nature of language and culture.

Technology

St. Juliana uses technology to enhance student learning by providing the necessary resources and infrastructure to be successful in our digital world. So that our students may thrive as 21st-century learners, workers, and citizens, our goal is to ensure that they become technologically proficient. We provide our students with grade-appropriate technology skills, as well as cover all grade-level ISTE state standards. In addition, internet safety, digital literacy, and digital citizenship are covered in a grade-level appropriate manner. Our technology program has been designed to successfully prepare our students for their next chapter in high school and a technology-rich future.

Art, Music, & Drama

Art class meets weekly where students get to learn and explore a range of artistic styles and mediums. Art projects aim to incorporate academics with the Catholic faith, reinforcing classroom lessons and building a relationship with Christ. Projects will be hands-on and collaborative to foster creative thinking skills and to gain an understanding of artistic concepts.

Music and Drama classes also each meet weekly and are a safe place to be expressive in the performance arts in a structured environment. The focus is on learning and performing as a team to produce fun and enjoyable productions.

Athletics

St. Juliana School competes in a variety of sports within the Parochial Athletic League in the Diocese of Orange including flag football, basketball, and volleyball for 5th through 8th grade student-athletes. Participating within the athletics program provides an opportunity for friendly interscholastic competition in an environment of Christian sportsmanship, honesty, teamwork, spirit, mutual respect, and responsibility. The opportunity to represent the St. Juliana School in interscholastic play builds camaraderie among classmates and leads to a lifelong commitment to one’s faith community.

Learning Support Services

The mission of the St. Juliana Falconieri Learning Support Program is to support students’ individual learning styles and special learning needs to reach their full potential within a Christ-centered and value-based setting. Support and assistance are also offered to the teachers and parents in order to successfully meet these students’ individual needs so that they can achieve success and gain a feeling of competence in meeting the challenges of learning. Ongoing professional education is encouraged and supported by the administration to assist with the most up to date suggestions for the benefit of the students, parents, and teachers.

Extended Care

The St. Juliana School Extended Care Program supports families by providing budget-friendly, quality childcare before and after school. The program is open to all students enrolled in TK through 8th Grade. We strive to provide a safe, fun and enriching environment with a primary concern of the welfare and development of your children. The Extended Care Program is an extension of St. Juliana School and therefore follows the same philosophy, goals, rules, and standards.

Student Events

The St. Juliana School calendar provides a variety of extra-curricular events throughout the year to enhance the holistic learning experience of its students. The most popular of these events are the annual traditions of the Advent Program and Spring Sing which are all school musical and theatrical performances performed on stage in front of a full house in our state-of-the-art parish center. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in incremental learning opportunities to expand their classroom knowledge through a variety of other events such as the annual Science Fair and Art Show.

School Community Events

The St. Juliana School community is a thriving one with various school and parish events held throughout the year. Movie Nights are a popular event bringing school families together for an evening of fun and friendship while milestone events such as the annual Father-Daughter Dance are a great way to create lasting memories. In addition, parent-focused events such as our annual Gala and popular CLIF Brewfest allow for the opportunity for St. Juliana School’s parents and friends of the school to enjoy a night of fun while also supporting the school. Parents also have the opportunity to enjoy a monthly “Parents Night Out” as they drop their school children off at the parish center for an evening of fun and games.
